One of the greatest safari destinations in Africa is Botswana. Botswana is placed in the middle of Angola, Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Botswana's Kalahari Desert in the north covers most of the country with the national parks covering an additional 17 percent, in addition to the many private reserves. The most famous safari location in Botswana is the Okavango Delta. The Delta forms from the Okavango river which carries its waters into the Kalahari sands creating the largest inland delta in the world.
Another safari destination in Botswana is Chobe Natural Park, Chobe Natural Park placed in the north of Botswana. This park has a rainfall that fell throughout the year. This park has a reserve of water available continuously throughout the year. This is interesting variety of animals to come. More than 100,000 elephants migrate or make this park as their homes.
Another site is Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Central Kalahari Game Reserve is one huge reserve, this reserve is the second largest in world, covering over 20.000 sq. miles. Originally created to protect the ancient ways of the Bushman that still live there, it is also home to many rare, desert adapted species.
If you like to see Flamingoes you can go to Makgadikgadi Pan National Park. This huge salt pan was once a giant lake. Over the eons the waters receded, but yearly rains still attract millions of Flamingoes that nest in the shallow waters.
At the eastern corner of Botswana sets Mashatu Game Reserve. This private reserve holds open savannah, reverie forests, marshland and sandstone outcrops for you to explore.
Moremi Game Reserve is a spectacular reserve that covers nearly 1/3 of the Okavango Delta area and was the first park established and run by the people who have lived there for hundreds of years, the Twana tribe.
Another famous pan in Botswana beside Makgadikgadi Pan National Park is Nxai Pan National Park. This pan is dotted with small trees and grasslands amidst the briny ancient lake beds that were once filled with water, attracts large numbers of wildlife depending the season.
Placed at the northwest fringe of the Kalahari Desert sets Tsodilo Hill. The hills are the honey colored granite cliffs of the Tsodilo Hills. These hills are world famous for their ancient Bushman paintings.
